[madegassisch], Singular Ịndri der, -(s), Indriidae, Familie der Halbaffen mit vier Arten (Kopf-Rumpf-Länge 30-90 cm) in drei Gattungen, die im Nordosten Madagaskars verbreitet sind. Indris sind baumbewohnende Pflanzenfresser mit langen Gliedmaßen. Die große Zehe ist opponierbar, der Fuß wird dadurch zu einem Greifwerkzeug. Die zweite Zehe trägt die für Halbaffen typische Putzkralle. Alle Indris leben sozial. Sie bringen nach einer Tragzeit von 4-5 Monaten ein Junges zur Welt und werden bis zu sieben Jahre alt.
 
Die größte Art ist der tagaktive Indri (Indri indri; Kopf-Rumpf-Länge 90 cm) mit schwarzbraun und weiß gefärbtem Fell und Stummelschwanz. Zu den ebenfalls tagaktiven Sifakas (Gattung Propithecus) zählen zwei mittelgroße, langschwänzige Arten mit unbehaartem, dunklem Gesicht und weiß, braun oder schwarzbraun gefärbtem Fell. Der Wollmaki (Avahi laniger) ist die kleinste Art, überwiegend braungrau mit rundlichem Kopf; seine großen Augen weisen auf seine nächtliche Lebensweise hin.
